The above is the only photo we have of the main "Kiwi Chateau" house from way-back-when.
We don't know when it was taken... Pre-War, surely ?

Note that it originally had a Spanish "torchy" (mud/straw/guano) finish, that there was

a door that opened directly onto the street and that the windows had wooden shutters.
There was also an old wooden gate, the iron brackets for which still exist.

Some of the old beam restraints still exsist also, while the upstairs "dormer"
windows have since sprouted.
At one stage the far-end windows (now the farmhouse kitchen) served as the local

Post-office,and the right-hand extention housed (and still does) a massive vaulted-roofed

pizza-style oven that could, if required service the entire village.
