Hi and welcome to our personal, home-baked web-site!
We're Geoff McIntosh and Annette Dow and, as our Domain name suggests, we're a couple of Kiwis living in France. Prior to 2012 we also lived in New Zealand. And in the States. And in England! But we've given up the abodes in the latter countries now as they were no longer cost-effective. (We still own/run Businesses in the States and the UK, though.)
Recently we've spent most of our time in the bustling metropolis of Embry (that's the place in France), kowtowing to our now-four (down from five) cats. They're French, of course, so they speak Purrtois and go by the names of Nettles, Pi, Darth and Greyballs (who, in turn, goes by many OTHER names, most of them quite rude!)... If you're into cats, then clic juste ici.
I suppose I'd better come clean and admit that I, Geoff, must take much of the responsibility for this site, so if anyone has any criticisms, please direct them at ME, not Annette... or the cats!
The site dates back to 2008 but sat idle for quite a while, during which time I was in BIG trouble for not changing the photo that, until 19th December 2013, was displayed above. Whilst we still need to find replacements for the new ones, I'm now allowed back in the house!
There HAVE been a couple of flurries of activity on the site recently. The first pertains to our Gite, which we refer to as "Kiwi House". Should you be interested in coming to stay, click here and then on AVAILABILITY to see the Availability Chart... 2014 is already starting to fill up!
NEWS FLASH: Friday 20th December 2013:
I have just started putting together another set of pages pertaining to nearby Battlefields and related places of interest. Most of these are within a two-hour drive of "Kiwi Chateau". They will include The Somme, Arras/Vimy Ridge, Agincourt/Azincourt, Crecy, Ypres/Iepers, Passchendaele and Flanders Fields and will also include references to various V1/V2 Bunkers and Launch-sites, plus some of the more notable fortifications of the "Atlantic Wall"... A Tourists' "Battlefields 101", if you like, which extends to the Normandy Landing Beaches and a few places of note just across the Channel.
February 2014:
Some 25-odd "Battlefields" pages exist now... There are more to be added, but all in due course!
Always a tough one to figure out and I guess "as little as possible" doesn't quite cut la moutarde! (Nous préférons Dijon, btw.)
I suppose we should at least put in a plug for our [historically] primary source of income to start with so, if you're up to it, head on over to
www.BinaryResearch.net or
In short, we sell highly-specialised Windows-based Utilities software, the ;atest flagship product being:
We've also spawned a few "boutique" businesses, about which you can learn more here.
Actually, it's not a chateau at all! It is une grande maison, though, so please forgive us our pretension! And it's OLD, too! Just how old we have no idea, but it's possible that there was the germ of a building on-site during the Battle of Agincourt, which is almost 600 years ago (25 October 1415 ~ Saint Crispin's Day) !
Also, it's not a single, stand-alone house but two (on two seperate titles): one large and one small, plus an adjacent "block" of six stables.
We've taken over three of the "main house" bedrooms for "home office" purposes, so all visitors are relegated to "the gite", which comfortably sleeps five and has it's own kitchen, two bathrooms/toilets, etc.
